Images I have been looking at, and some new drawings--February 2011

My drawings contain very detailed, organic shapes. I'm currently working with pen and ink, graphite and pastel. Herewith are some of these new drawings interspersed with images I have been looking at.

This is a relief print made from inked rubber bands.

Albrecht Durer
The shapes are have a lot of depth and his use of pen and ink is always inspiring.

Cezanne
I was looking for circular shapes in a more classical painting.

Winslow Homer
Homer's watercolor landscapes are dark and weighted in the foreground of the paintings.
I've been looking at his work for years and have often used this structure as a reference.
